An exciting leadership opportunity has become available for an experienced and passionate Health & Physical Education teacher to join a well-established secondary school on a fixed-term basis, covering maternity leave from Term 3 2026 through to July 2027.
This role offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated department while continuing to make a meaningful impact in the classroom. The successful applicant will oversee curriculum delivery, support and develop teaching staff, drive student achievement, and contribute positively to the wider school community.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and supporting the Health & Physical Education department Overseeing curriculum planning and delivery across the learning area Promoting student achievement, engagement, and wellbeing Mentoring and developing teaching staff Contributing to the school's strategic goals and culture
The successful applicant will have:
Current New Zealand teacher registration (or eligibility to obtain registration)
Proven experience teaching Health & Physical Education at secondary level
Strong leadership and relationship-building skills
A commitment to student success and wellbeing
Excellent communication, organisation, and collaboration skills
