Role: Full Time Permanent Specialist teacher
Location: South Waikato, 50km from Rotorua and 60km from Cambridge
Start: Term Three 2025 or by negotiation

Our client school is seeking a passionate and experienced Specialist Teacher to work in their ORS funded unit working 1:1 with students who have high complex needs. This is a permanent and full-time position where you will be well supported, well resourced, and may involve working with students across years 1-8, depending on individual needs.

The unit has five lovely teachers and 11 support staff working across two classrooms. You’ll have plenty of support from your team leader and Senco.

What our client is looking for:
  • Prior New Zealand teaching experience teaching students with high and complex needs, preferably in a specialist or special education setting or primary school setting
  • The ability to build strong, positive relationships with students, whānau, and colleagues
  • A collaborative approach to working with teacher aides, specialists, and classroom teachers
  • Strong communication skills—both verbal and written
  • Flexibility, a great sense of humour, and strong organisational skills
  • A passion for creating inclusive, safe, and empowering learning environments where every learner is supported to succeed
  • Confidence using IEPs, differentiating content, and working closely with support staff and external agencies
To be successful, we are looking for teachers with:
  • A Level 7 Education Qualification in Primary/or NZQA-approved qualifications
  • Must have experience in a New Zealand primary classroom, special education, or working with children with high complex needs
  • Current NZ Teachers Registration
  • Can support teachers on a visa but they must be in country and New Zealand teaching experience
