Prospero Teaching is proud to be partnering with a highly progressive and forward-thinking coeducational Year 7–13 school in the wider Canterbury region. We are assisting them in sourcing an enthusiastic, skilled, and relationship-focused Science Teacher for the 2026 school year.
This is a full-time position within a kura known for its modern learning design, collaborative teaching approach, and commitment to culturally sustaining practice. The successful applicant will join a supportive science and STEM faculty where inquiry-based learning, hands-on experimentation, and real-world application sit at the heart of teaching and learning.
About the role
We are seeking a teacher who:
Brings a passion for junior and/or senior science, with strengths in delivering engaging, concept-rich programmes
Builds strong, mana-enhancing relationships with ākonga, whānau, and colleagues
Enjoys working collaboratively within a supportive team environment
Is confident using practical, inquiry-led approaches to deepen student understanding
Integrates digital technologies and authentic contexts into learning
Brings flexibility, curiosity, and a reflective, growth-focused mindset
Contributes positively to a dynamic, future-focused science department
Requirements
Applicants must:
Be registered, or in the process of registering, with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
Have strong, relevant teaching experience in science at the intermediate and/or secondary level
Be willing to engage fully with the school’s learning philosophy and ongoing PLD opportunities
Overseas applicants must have completed NZQA Qualifications Assessment (or be in progress) and meet visa eligibility requirements
