Prospero Teaching is working with a well-regarded Christchurch primary school that is seeking a passionate and culturally responsive teacher to join their junior school from Term 2.
This role sits within a junior bilingual class with a strong te reo Māori focus, where language, culture and identity are central to the learning environment. The school is committed to strengthening te reo Māori me ōna tikanga across the kura and is looking for a teacher who can confidently support tamariki in a bilingual setting.
The successful teacher will help deliver a programme where te reo Māori and English are both valued within the classroom, supporting young learners to build confidence in language, identity and learning. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about culturally responsive practice and enjoys working in a collaborative and supportive school community.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Confidence teaching in a bilingual classroom environment
A strong commitment to te reo Māori and tikanga Māori
The ability to integrate te reo Māori naturally across the curriculum
Strong literacy and numeracy teaching strategies for junior learners
A collaborative and reflective approach to teaching and learning
The ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and whānau
