Prospero Teaching is proud to be partnering with a highly progressive and forward-thinking coeducational Year 7–13 school in the wider Canterbury region. We are assisting them in sourcing an energetic, innovative, and relationship-centred Intermediate Teacher for the 2026 school year.
This is a full-time, fixed-term maternity leave cover within a kura known for its modern learning design, collaborative teaching approach, and commitment to culturally sustaining practice. The successful applicant will work as part of a supportive junior team where co-teaching, creativity, and authentic learning experiences are central to daily practice.
About the role
We are seeking a teacher who:
Is passionate about working with young people during the critical intermediate years
Builds strong, mana-enhancing relationships with ākonga, whānau, and colleagues
Enjoys working collaboratively within a co-teaching model
Is confident integrating learning across curriculum areas
Brings flexibility, curiosity, and a growth mindset
Is willing to take risks, innovate, and contribute positively to a dynamic learning environment
Requirements
Applicants must:
Be registered, or in the process of registering, with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
Have strong, relevant teaching experience at the intermediate level
Be willing to engage fully with the school’s learning philosophy and ongoing PLD opportunities
Overseas applicants must have completed NZQA Qualifications Assessment (or be in progress) and meet visa eligibility requirements.
