Independent facilitator project based classroom

Independent facilitator project based classroom

Are you an experienced classroom teacher wanting a new challenge?  Are you interested in working with motivated Year 7/8 students in a project-based setting where students take the lead with their learning, with you as facilitator and mentor?

This small private school is currently seeking a dynamic and innovative practitioner who can empower young learners to work independently and develop real world skills as they work to achieve an individual project over the course of a whole year.  This class includes a select group of students who apply to participate or are shoulder tapped.  You’ll bring a wider growth mindset, with experience in Universal Design for Learning or SOLO Taxonomy and be passionate about sparking curiosity in young learners.

With the current teacher leaving after more than 20 years, this is an opportunity to stamp your mark on the role.  Your ability to develop 21st century critical skills including digital expertise, use of AI and research will deliver a refresh of a framework that fosters creative thinking and genuine innovative practice.

As a great communicator you will be highly relational, able to build rapport with students, staff, whanau and the Board of Trustees, bringing them all along on the learning journey.  You’ll have the skills to design and deliver an appropriate programme that caters for the diverse abilities and needs of the learners as they build skills in independent learning, utilising collaboration and problem solving.

The school are offering a very competitive remuneration package, positioned above state school rates.  The role is permanent and commences Term 1 2026.

You will have NZ teacher registration and at least 5 years teaching experience with a preference for NZ Curriculum knowledge.
