The opportunity We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking teacher with a passion for hard materials to join a vibrant and well-resourced technology learning area. Their highly successful Trades Academy has over a 90% achievement rate for NCEA, and a strong team who work together to drive student achievement. We are looking for a woodworking or building specialist, but if you have other areas of expertise, please state these.
This is a full-time, fixed term position for the 2026 academic year, with the potential for an earlier start by negotiation. There is a strong possibility that this role will become permanent from 2027.
The necessary characteristics You will have a recognised teaching qualification & NZ teacher registration/practising certificate, or the ability to obtain one. We seek a student-centred educator who thrives on building positive, respectful relationships and is open to exploring innovative and engaging approaches to teaching. A background in hard materials is essential.
The ideal candidate will be someone who can inspire and connect with the students; contribute to transformational learning experiences, and help shape a future-focused curriculum.
